About me

I am a mother of two and a grandmother of three. I have been a registrar/celebrant for over twenty-seven years. I started in Bolton where I was born and raised and worked in the register office there for over three years. I loved it from day one and knew that this was for me. I cannot imagine doing anything else. I felt I needed and wanted to spread my wings so I applied for and got a job in Lambeth register office, got it and I moved to London. It was a bit of a culture shock at first but what’s the worst that can happen! I hadn't been there long when the Superintendent Registrar chose me as his Deputy Registrar to register the first live wedding on the London Eye shown on GMTV as it was known then. What an experience and so exciting. After three years I landed a job at Islington and London City Register office and I have been there over twenty years.

In 2010 I did a show called ‘The Wedding House’ for Channel 4. Initially when I auditioned, the production company were looking for four registrars. They ultimately just chose me. I had such fun for 3-4 months and was thrown into this world I knew nothing about. I married 46 couples over approximately 26 days and all the weddings/renewal of vows were themed in some way. There was Alice in wonderland, Dalmatians, and I must not forget the fetish ceremony to name a few. They were all amazing. In 2014, another production company got in touch with me to be the registrar on a programme called ‘Married at First Sight’ for channel 4. I was the registrar/wedding consultant and expert t on the show for five years and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The wedding I conducted for the Daily Mirror was one to remember. It was a competition the newspaper was running leading up to Prince William and Kate’s wedding. The couple that won were absolutely lovely and it really was a wedding fit for royalty!

In 2023 I conducted one of the ceremonies on Love is Blind UK. Absolutely fantastic show that has been a hit and I was so excited to be involved.

Apart from the celebrity ceremonies, I have done some very personal ceremonies such as marrying my twin sister and also being a bridesmaid which was amazing. I have conducted ceremonies for many friends and other family members throughout the years. Conducting the first same sex civil partnership in Islington for good friends was unbelievable and going on to conduct the first opposite sex civil partnership was wonderful. Another first was registering the first Scientology wedding in England. I hoped to see Tom Cruise but sadly he didn’t arrive :-). Being able to do this job is an honour. I almost don’t see it as a job because it brings me so much joy and I hope I have many more to come.
